The Simpsons Predicted Cannabis Legalization 13 Years Ago
The Simpsons is an animated sitcom that’s been on air on the Fox network since December, 1989. Which means, they have been on air for 30 years now, it’s pretty impressive! As a result, they won many different awards over the passed years. Suchlike, 33 Emmy awards,
30 Annie Awards, eight People’s Choice Awards and The Simpsons Predicted Legalization of Cannabis in 2005.
Matt Groening is the creator of The Simpsons. Surprisingly, he has predicted many things in his show. Such as, Donald Trump being president in 2000, which actually happened in 2016. Also, he forecasted the famous FaceTime feature in 1995.

In fact, one of his predictions was the legalization of marijuana in Canada 13 years ago. In 2005, episode “ Midnight Rx” in season 16. Ned Flanders a character on the show meets his Canadian doppelganger who offers him a “Reeferino”.
Grampa Simpsons lives in a retirement home, unfortunately, prescription drugs in the USA are unaffordable. So, him and Homer go to Manitoba, Canada to smuggle cheaper drugs. Eventually, Ned and Apu decide to join them. That’s when Ned meets his Canadian version offering him a joint.
On that episode, Canadian Ned states “ Hey would you like a puff on a reeferino, it’s legal here”. Ned takes an instant dislike and tells Homer “ They warned me Satan would be attractive. Let’s go!”
